This is an excellent opportunity for you to learn a new craft, develop your problem-solving skills, and create something with your own hands.

It is super fun and engaging. You’ll learn about different types of wood, how to use hand and power tools, and how to design and build your own projects.

You will get to work with your hands in a creative capacity and use different tools and machinery in a professional furniture making studio.

What can you make

All items will be made of solid wood or Russian Birch Ply or solid wood veneer based on what's appropriate for the item. During the class, you will be explained which choices make sense for the item being made and why.

This course covers a large variety of skills required to master the art of woodworking, one project at a time

Wood Theory

Understanding wood as a material, characteristics, behaviour and how it differs between different species. Also learn about wood by-products, how to identify them and when to use what

Appreciating Design

A crash course in proportions, perspective drawing and able to see an object through different angles. Learn the nuances of workmanship to better appreciate what you will make yourself

Measurement & Marking

The prerequisite for producing accurate work is accurate dimensioning and marking. As the saying goes “Measure Twice, Cut Once”

Hand Tools

Learning to use hand tools creates a foundation for all projects. It teaches a level of precision and attention to detail that can help you develop patience and focus.

Power Tools

With proper guidelines and safety measures, you can experience using the best power tools that are used to make high quality furniture

Finishing

You will learn about multiple finishing materials, processes and tools to apply a finish to your end product

Pick a course that works for you

01 Apprenticeship

Runs for 3 months, every Sunday afternoon 2:30 to 6:00 pm. The focus is on learning the fundamentals of woodworking. This is equivalent to "wood shop" class in schools outside India.

02 Weekend Woodworking

Make an item by yourself over a weekend, and experience the joy of woodworking. You will use a wide variety of tools and machines while making your item. You will apply a top finish and take your item home with you.

03 Holidays Crash Course

Perhaps the best way to utilise your holidays in a most fun and productive way, and be super proud of how you did that.

Similar to the Weekend Woodworking course but stretches to 4.5 days to give you more time to work on multiple items

04 Evening Classes

Work on your own item in a steady pace. Book a bench for 2 days a week, Tue, Wed 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Total duration is based on the item to be made.

Prerequisite: should have completed at least 2 weekend courses or the apprenticeship course

Experience A BOUTIQUE FURNITURE MAKING STUDIO

You will be working in a boutique furniture making studio, equipped with state of the art machinery and tools.

You will be assigned a dedicated workbench for the duration of the course.

You will be given expert guidance and tips throughout the course, to help you make an item that you will be proud of. 

You will be briefed and monitored for safe working practices at every step of the making process.

You will be learning from a professional furniture maker.

WORKSHOP SAFETY IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT​

Working with hand tools and power tools can be dangerous if proper precautions are not taken

You will undergo a detailed safety orientation at the beginning of the workshop, and several reminders as required.

Safety glasses and ear muffs are available for use during the workshop. Nitrile gloves will be provided while applying finish. You should bring their own mask and wear them while using power tools that generate wood dust.

You must sign a safety declaration form before the start of the workshop – this is a mandatory prerequisite. Please bring a signed copy on the first day of the class.

 

CLOTHING 

It is important to dress in safe wear while working in a workshop – Long pants/ jeans/ shorts and half-sleeve T-shirts/ shirts/ tops. Full sleeves, flowing fabrics and loose-fitting outfits are not allowed. Shoes are mandatory. Long hair must be tied in a ponytail or a bun.
