Make minor modifications to the dimensions and other details of the item to personalise to your taste. Drawing the design by hand is encouraged
Get making! You will use a variety of hand tools and power tools to cut and shape the necessary parts. You will then assemble your item with glue to make it robust
Finally, you will make the surfaces smooth by sanding and then apply the top coat finish to complete it. And take a photo with the completed item!
You will be working in a boutique furniture making studio, equipped with state of the art machinery and tools.
You will be assigned a dedicated workbench for the duration of the course.
You will be given expert guidance and tips throughout the course, to help you make an item that you will be proud of.
You will be briefed and monitored for safe working practices at every step of the making process.
You will be learning from a professional furniture maker.
You will learn a number of core carpentry skills such as visualisation & proportions, basic 2D drawing, notating your drawings, measuring & marking, sawing, joinery, shaping, sanding and finishing techniques.
You will use a number of hand tools such as measuring tape, engineer's square, saw, screwdriver, chisel and mallet. You may also use power tools such as table saw, chop saw, jig saw, cordless drills and power sanders, depending upon the project chosen.
Duration:
The workshop will be for 2 half days (Friday 2:30 pm to 5:00 PM and Saturday 10:00 am to 1:00 pm)

Cancellation:
Upon a min 2-day prior notice, the booking amount can be utilised for a future booking. Only one postponement will be allowed without forfieture of fees paid. No-shows will forfeit the booking amount

You will undergo a detailed safety orientation at the beginning of the workshop, and several reminders as required.
Safety glasses and ear muffs are available for use during the workshop. Nitrile gloves will be provided while applying finish. You should bring their own mask and wear them while using power tools that generate wood dust.
You must sign a safety declaration form before the start of the workshop – this is a mandatory prerequisite. Please bring a signed copy on the first day of the class.
CLOTHING
It is important to dress in safe wear while working in a workshop – Long pants/ jeans/ shorts and half-sleeve T-shirts/ shirts/ tops. Full sleeves, flowing fabrics and loose-fitting outfits are not allowed. Shoes are mandatory. Long hair must be tied in a ponytail or a bun.
